Heading towards Child Friendly Local Governance Ward Declaration

VDRC-Nepal and Ward No. 8, Gaindakot Municipality has entered into an agreement to prepare a base for declaring Child Friendly Local Governance Ward on 17th January, 2019. As of agreement, VDRC-Nepal will facilitate social mobilization needed for the declaration and both parties will contribute funding for the venture.

Health Camp for the Uterine Awareness and VIA Check Up

VDRC-Nepal has organized a health camp for the awareness and VIA check up related to uterine problems on 1 December, 2018. A total of 67 patients checked up in the event. The event was coordinated by EX. Com. member Ms Sita Rijal where 40% patients showed some sort of complication. The event was inaugurated by President, Hari Lal Sapkota where he emphasized the importance of health especially for women. The event was facilitated by Treasurer Ms Parbati Kandel and HRCA Ms Gyanu Sapkota and observed by IPP Khem Raj Sapkota and ED Keshab Prasad Sapkota.

VDRC-Nepal 33 rd Annual General Meeting

VDRC-Nepal has successfully organized its 33 rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 21 October 2018. Key agenda items were sharing and approval of annual progress and financial reports for 2074/75 and program and budget for 2075/76 as well as distribution of Vijaya Awards. The  AGM was chaired and inaugurated by Hari Lal Sapkota, Chairperson of the Executive Committee. This year, Vijaya Awards were presented to three personalities. The awards for valuable service and contribution in different categories went to Dr. Bhim Nath Acharya (Staff), Mr. Tulasi Prasad Poudel (Member) and Mr. Dip Narayan Sapkota (Executive Committee).

Mr. Krishna Prasad Sapkota, Secretary presented annual progress report of 2074/75 and program plans for 2075/76. Likewise, Ms. Parbati Kandel, Treasurer presented financial report of 2074/75 and budget for 2075/76. All of these reports were discussed in the forum and approved unanimously. Members delivered their views and suggestions during open Q & A session. Key suggestions from the members are presented below:

 

  • VDRC developed forest, its utility issues and planning for future
  • Poverty free Gaindakot and coordination with municipality
  • Program synchronization among VGI members
  • Knowledge, skill and capacity enhancement of disadvantaged group
  • Showcasing VGI as a strength of VDRC
  • Sectoral planning engaging members’ expertise
  • New membership opening for youths
  • Threats to civil society organization and solidarity only measure to overcome it

Ex-Presidents Mr. Basanta Raj Lamsal, Mr. Narayan Prasad Sapkota, Mr. Khem Raj Sapkota and Mr. Rishi Ram Sapkota addressed the AGM marking their stands to the suggestion given by the members. Similarly general member, Mr. Gopal Prasad Kandel, ex chairman-Gaindakot VDC, Mr. OM Prasad Sapkota and deputy mayor-Gaindakot, Ms. Bishnu Kumari Kandel addressed the AGM extending their best wishes with valuable suggestion. Likewise, catalytic persons Mr. Tilak Prasad Sapkota extended his best wishes hinting out the way forward and Mr. Govinda Raj Binodi expressed his best wishes.

AGM has authorized attorney of power to executive committee to commence sales of VLBS share if needed. It further authorized Ms. Kamala Poudel and Ms. Shanti Acharya verifying minute of AGM. Finally, Chairperson of AGM, Hari Lal Sapkota entertained the issues raised and declared the completion of AGM.

Mini Leprosy Elimination Campaign 2018

Mini Leprosy Elimination Campaign was successfully organized at Nawalparasi district (Bardghat Susta - West). The campaign was jointly run by the Damien Foundation, Sasakawa Foundation, District Public Health Office, Nawalparasi and Vijaya Development Resource Center. Two batches of campaign January 30 – February 1 and February 4 - February 6 has covered the whole district. The campaign mobilized 470 staffs and health volunteers, 390 people's representative, teachers and social worker at health facilities bringing 80 new leprosy patients in light.
